Innovation Booster – Robotics
Innovation Booster Robotics promotes knowledge transfer and encourages co-operation with partners along the entire value chain of robotics
Innovation Booster – Robotics The Innovation Booster Robotics was active from 2021 to 2025 as a Swiss initiative supported by Innosuisse. This website is its legacy page. Throughout its duration, the Booster created and strengthened a national community fostering an open innovation culture in robotics. It brought together key players across academia, industry, startups, and public stakeholders to explore new ideas, catalyze collaborations, and accelerate technology transfer and innovation. Although the Innovation Booster Robotics program has concluded, our mission continues through the Swiss Robotics Association (SRA), a standalone initiative dedicated to serving as a national networking hub for robotics stakeholders across Switzerland and fostering long-term collaboration, visibility, and impact. Cutting edge projects funded Application procedure Read more Featured projects funded by us Autonomous Wind Turbine LPS Measurement The inspection of a wind turbine lightning protection system is tough. The Voliro T robot can perform this inspection faster than anyone else. We want to further increase the safety and efficiency by automating the final approach and measurement. Ascento – Automated Security Patrolling on large outdoor properties Ascento has developed a robot-as-a-service security solution that can patrol outdoors properties and alert guards when anomalies are detected. Being all-weather and all-terrain, the solution can help anyone needing outdoor patrols above 8h/day. Soft Sensor patch for assessment of product texture The project proposes a soft skin patch with a robotic actuator for bio-inspired texture assessment, enabling rapid product development and technology transfer to the Swiss Industry. Drone mounted passive water sampling system for autonomous environmental DNA collection This project develops a system to collect and passively filter water based environmental DNA samples autonomously from a UAV. The 'Swiss Robotics Day' was a rewarding experience. The forum did a great job of uniting academics and industrials, through engaging workshops and insightful talks around cutting-edge Swiss technologies Fabien Antonatos, Co-founder & CBDO, AICA The Innovation Booster is an excellent opportunity to boot-strap innovative ideas in the robotics space in Switzerland. Although the financial support per project is relatively small, it allows an idea to be validated conceptually together with industrial partners and create fruitful collaborations towards industrial adoption and further applications for funding. Prof. Mirko Kovač, Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa) I had the privilege of participating in the 'Innovation Booster Robotics' activities. The networking aspect of the events was particularly noteworthy, as it allowed me to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and learn about their projects. This helped refine my ideas and introduced me to new perspectives and innovative solutions. Overall, the 'Innovation Booster Robotics' activities provide an ideal environment for individuals to collaborate, brainstorm, and bring their projects to life.
