Duffy sends letters that take aim at Amtrak, WMATA, DC Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy sent a letter to the Amtrak CEO requesting a crime prevention plan and recommending the presence of the Department of Homeland Security at Union Station. In a letter to WMATA, Duffy urged a crackdown on crime and fare evasion. In a letter to Mayor Bowser, following recent Trump Administration threats related to Black Lives Matter Plaza, Duffy criticized the presence of artwork on roadways that is not intended to promote the safety of road users.  (Ittai Sopher / WUSA9)   Dunn Loring church leaders withdraw housing proposal due to opposition from neighbors The Vine Church in Dunn Loring has been pursuing a zoning change to enable up to 150 units of housing to be developed on the church’s land, as well as a child care center and worship space. Church trustees, however, withdrew the plans after local residents voiced opposition. They promised further community meetings about the site’s redevelopment.  (Scott McCaffrey / FFXNow)   Marc Elrich opposes county council’s effort to tackle housing shortage Citing fears about empty houses and disorganized development, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich opposes the county council’s “More Housing N.O.W.” proposal.
