Get started Special Mission Algoma University has been given a very special mission, one that connects to its place on this historical site Special Mission “It’s such a great feeling knowing that your mentors genuinely care about your success and recognize your efforts. You can’t get this close to people and to your professors at a bigger university. It really is like a family here.” Alyssa Garofalo BA Hons in Psychology, MA in Forensics Psychology “ I took several biology courses, which were all amazing. The class sizes are smaller which allowed a lot of outdoors and hands-on learning. More particularly, in my ecology course, I remember catching and surveying crickets, and going into the St. Mary’s River to net fish. Everyone got to experience those opportunities, which I think is really unique to Algoma.” Emily Faubert Bachelor of Arts “I knew the small school size would be great for getting involved, but I had no idea I would be able to get involved at the level that I have been, actually taking leadership roles, seeing groups and programs take the direction I want, and being able to make a mark on Algoma.” Marissa Ditoro Bachelor of Social Work “At bigger universities you don’t get to know your professors like this. They wouldn’t know I was interested in going to medical school and help me get there. Here, they did just that. They wrote me incredible reference letters. They helped me every step of the way.” Caleb Charlebois Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology “We receive a lot of hands-on experience and placement opportunities outside of the classroom, which really helps to apply what we are learning in real-life situations.” Johnathan Lalonde Bachelor of Arts in Community Economic & Social Development Latest News Algoma University Student Wins Award at the North American Model United Nations Posted Mar 11, 2025 Twelve Algoma University students recently participated in the 40th annual North American Model United Nations (NAMUN), Canada’s longest-running university-level Model...
