Essays include: James Curran explores Australia’s relationship with the US in the age of Trump. Emma Shortis argues that Canberra should be bold as the global order shifts. Susan Stone analyses Trump’s economic plan and how Australia might benefit. Kim Beazley, Joe Hockey and Arthur Sinodinos discuss the diplomatic challenges facing Australia in Washington DC.   Why not also add these? × ABOUT Australian Foreign Affairs is the country’s leading foreign affairs journal. In a world arguably less stable than at any time since World War II, it examines the most significant global issues affecting Australia. The journal makes foreign affairs accessible to a wide readership. It encourages debate and is open to divergent views. Its readers need no other qualification than an interest in key foreign developments affecting Australia and the region, and a curiosity about the possible outcomes and responses. Contributors are among Australia’s top thinkers, including Paul Keating, Kim Beazley, Linda Jaivin, Allan Gyngell, George Megalogenis, Jennifer Rayner, Michael Wesley, Hugh White, Santilla Chingaipe and Christos Tsiolkas. Australian Foreign Affairs has three issues a year, published in February, July and October. There has never been a more critical time for Australia to contemplate its place in the world. My intention is that Australian Foreign Affairs will serve as a forum for our most adventurous and deepest strategic thinkers to interrogate foreign policy— Morry Schwartz, Publisher, Australian Foreign Affairs ABOUT THE EDITOR Jonathan Pearlman is the editor of Australian Foreign Affairs and the world editor of The Saturday Paper. He is a correspondent for The Straits Times newspaper (Singapore) and was Australia–Pacific correspondent for The Telegraph (UK). He previously worked at The Sydney Morning Herald, covering foreign affairs and politics from Canberra and Sydney. Australia is increasingly affected by events beyond its borders, especially as global power and wealth shifts towards Asia. The challenges facing Australia and the region are varied and complex, but they are also fascinating. There is a strong need and appetite for a publication that explores these challenges and debates the ways Australia should respond. — Jonathan Pearlman, Editor, Australian Foreign Affairs More about the editor.
