This week, Artforum revisits Lucy Lippard’s cover essay on Winsor’s “immense and intimate” art. “The basic order, or geometry, in Winsor’s work is always thwarted by action or by nature, by the materials’ or the process’ inclinations toward their own identities,” writes Lippard.  In bound square, she says, we see “nature in traction, nature only temporarily tamed.” —The editors PMC Logo Most Popular 1.
