Subscribe Now FAQ’s Is Actsafe part of WorkSafe BC? No. Actsafe is a non-profit Health and Safety Association dedicated to providing safety training for the arts and entertainment sector. Are the courses and workshops available to everyone? No. These courses and workshops are exclusively for individuals working in the BC arts and entertainment industry. Why are some courses and workshops free while others are paid? Some courses and workshops offered by Actsafe Safety Association are available at no cost, made possible through funding from government initiatives and industry partnerships. These free offerings aim to make essential safety knowledge accessible, ensuring participants meet regulatory requirements and industry standards. In contrast, paid courses and workshops generally involve specialized training that necessitates additional resources. The fees for these courses help offset the costs of providing high-quality, comprehensive training tailored to specific needs within the industry. Do you offer private workshop or training session? Yes. Actsafe offers private training sessions tailored to your needs. If you need to schedule large group training or prefer on-site training for your crew, we can assist. Learn how to book your session here. What is the cancellation policy? Actsafe’s cancellation information varies for each course and workshop. Please see our cancellation information page for details. How do I reschedule or cancel my course? If your cancellation is within our policy, you can sign in to your STAR account and click on the Calendar tab. In the upper right corner, select “Courses” to view your registered training. To cancel, select “Withdraw.” If you wish to reschedule, please email us at info@actsafe.ca or call 604-733-4682 How do I access or download my certificate from my STAR profile? To access and download your certificates, log in to your STAR profile. Navigate to the Home tab, scroll down to the Completed section, and click on the certificate icon to download it to your device. Where can I find my certificate after completing a course? Once you have successfully completed a course, your certification will be automatically uploaded to your STAR profile. Does my certificate automatically get sent to my union? No. Actsafe does not automatically send proof of completion to employers or union halls. You must download your certificate and provide it to the relevant authority. What mandatory training is required to apply for major film unions? Motion Picture Safety Awareness training is required. For more information, please visit Motion Picture Safety Awareness course. Where can I find information on union specific training requirements? Each union in BC has different training requirements. Please visit our Union Training Requirements page to view a list of unions and their specific course requirements. Where can I access worker training records? You can access worker training records on the Worker Training Records page. Please note that only records for workers who have consented to share their training information with Actsafe will be available. What should I do if I have a safety concern or need advice? Actsafe’s safety advisors can assist in enhancing your safety management program with our OHS Gap Analysis, ensuring it complies with regulatory standards. Book a free consultation and our team will follow up with you. How do I provide feedback or suggest improvements? To provide feedback on our courses and workshops, please fill out the survey sent to you after course completion. For any other feedback, email us at info@actsafe.ca or use the form on our Contact Us page. Can I report a safety issue to Actsafe? Workplace safety concerns should be reported to WorkSafeBC. However, you may also inform Actsafe or seek advice from one of our Safety Advisors. Please note that Actsafe does not have the authority to conduct workplace investigations or enforce penalties. Why are Skid Steer and Telehandler training dates not available on your website? Skid Steer and Telehandler training courses are available by request only.
