Sony a1 suddenly not working on birding trip The 'strong light source' message is due to having the camera set up to close the shutter when you turn the camera off. It's designed to keep dust off the sensor during lens changes, but the problem is direct sun coming through the lens to a focused point can burn a hole in your shutter. If you did not set the camera up to close the shutter on shut-down, then something has glitched and changed settings. I hate to sound like a broken record, but if it does it again try a factory reset. While you'll lose your custom settings it will be interesting to see if it fixes the issue. The rest of what you describe could be due to overheating, but then you say it was only 70 degrees, so that's unlikely. I ran mine once in very hot conditions 95+ with 104 feels-like temps in direct sun for a whole day. When I got back to my truck I stupidly put the camera in the Pelican vault, which was probably something like 150 degrees inside. Camera wouldn't turn on for 20 or so minutes. Sony a1 suddenly not working on birding trip Hi Dave,My best wishes for the rest of your trip.I really have no idea how to explain the issue, except maybe for an unwanted activation of some factory test mode?Perhaps might some camera buttons have remained stuck yesterday evening and caused the mishap in the following start-up tests?Also, in case the issue repeats, you might try doing a test after detaching the lens from the body, just to exclude some electrical communication glitch. Sony a1 suddenly not working on birding trip Miraculously, the camera is now working. This morning, I tried three batteries, all Sony authorized, and got the same frustrating pattern described above. But when I put the fourth Sony battery in, the camera suddenly fired up. I then tried the other three, and they work as well. I am so relieved and unbelievably happy. Here’s hoping I don’t get any other issues over the next 10 days.
