Discover your data Data Products Data Products are the building blocks of your data platform. Make them first-class citizens. Discover. Find the data that enable your data use cases. Use the visual data product map as a powerful entry point to navigate through your data mesh. Identify the data products that you can trust by evaluating quality metrics, popularity and compliance rating. Request. Approve. Self-service. Data Mesh Manager supports the full life-cycle of data access as a self-service data marketplace. Data consumers can request access and owners approve or reject. Automatically configure the permissions in your data platform. Automate. Integrate your data platform with the Data Mesh Manager API right from your CI/CD pipelines. Keep everything up-to-date automatically without having to enter metadata manually. Connect your data teams Data Contracts A data contract defines the structure, format, semantics, quality, and terms of use for exchanging data between a data provider and their consumers. Make the guarantees about provided data and expectations of the data usage explicit. Communicate. Data contracts are a great tool to discuss data models, semantics, quality, and data requirements with your data consumers even before data products are implemented. Define the terms of use and service levels to manage expectations. Edit Data Contracts in Web UI, YAML, API, and even Excel. Data Mesh Manager uses open standards like Bitol ODCS to specify data contracts. With user-friendly editors, data product owners can easily create and edit data contracts in the web UI, YAML, or even Excel. Enforce. Ensure that your data products are compliant to the data contract, even before they are deployed to production. As a data consumer, use data contracts to validate the upstream data quality. Data Mesh Manager fully integrates our popular open-source Data Contract CLI tool. AI-powered data governance Data Governance AI Define the rules of play in your data platform.Data Governance AI automatically checks for policy compliance. Document Decisions. Ownership, naming conventions, mandatory fields, data classification, access control, and more. Document your policies in natural language. AI-driven Policy Checks. Data Governance AI will automatically check if your policies are correctly applied in your data products and data contracts. Bring Your Own Model. Rely on our pre-trained and managed Data Governance AI Assistant, or use your own hosted model (even on-premise). When we started to use domain data to analyze and evaluate feature ideas, it fundamentally changed the way we think about data in software engineering. Data-driven decisions motivated us to build the right things. We combined our existing knowledge in software engineering and data analytics to share our perspective of data mesh on datamesh-architecture.com. We also translated Zhamak Dehghani's amazing Data Mesh book into German. As consultants, we helped many clients on their data mesh journey. We realized that federated computational governance is the fuzziest, yet the most important principle. To make it more tangible, we collected examples and best practices of guiding values, operating models, and global policies and shared them on datamesh-governance.com. We noticed that existing tools were not fitting well to support data mesh governance, so we decided to build Data Mesh Manager that helps to discover data products, agree on data contracts, and comply with global policies. Reach out by sending us an email and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. Which data platform do you support? Data Mesh Manager is focusing on the data mesh governance aspect and is data platform neutral. Through the API, Data Platform Manager can be integrated in all deployment pipelines and platforms, such as AWS Athena, AWS Redshift, GCP BigQuery, Azure Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks, and others. We already have a data catalog. Do we need Data Mesh Manager? Probably, yes. Most data catalogs focus on data assets, often containing too many entries, such as tables and internal data structures, which can quickly become overwhelming. Data Mesh Manager, on the other hand, manages data products using data contracts to provide a higher-level view. It enables you to connect these products to build an enterprise data marketplace. Importantly, Data Mesh Manager works alongside your existing data catalog (see our integration architecture). Learn more about the differences: From Data Catalog to Data Marketplace We are just starting our data mesh journey. Why should we consider Data Mesh Manager? You need to have a goto place where you document and discover your data products and data contracts. The data product inventory of the Data Mesh Manager offers you such a place, and can give you a feeling of joy when you watch your mesh grow. At some point, you need to start to focus on data governance. Your first global policies should cover interoperability, documentation, and security. Data Mesh Manager comes with ready-to-use policies that speeds up your initial governance steps. Where are your servers located? For the cloud version, all servers and data are hosted in the EU with european providers. What's the difference between the Community Edition and the Enterprise Edition? The Community Edition is a free version of the Data Mesh Manager that you can host yourself. The Enterprise Edition is a commercial cloud or on-premise offering and comes with support, advanced user management, SSO, and customizations. What does "simple user management" mean? In the free versions of Data Mesh Manager (Community Edition and Starter), you can invite users to Data Mesh Manager. Every invited user gets the "Organization Owner" role, i.e. every user can create and update teams, data products, and data contracts. The enterprise version of Data Mesh Manager comes with advanced user management, i.e. you can assign different roles to users. Read more about roles and their permissions in the documentation.
