About NWRA What we do The Northern and Western Regional Assembly works with key stakeholders at EU, national, regional and local level to accelerate and optimise effective regional development. The NWRA comprises of elected Members appointed by the 9 constituent local authorities within the Region including 3 members of the Irish delegation of the Committee of the Regions. The Assembly plays a key role in advocating for additional investment for the Region and always endeavours to achieve balanced regional development across all regions in the country. QuicklinksRSES for Northern & Western Region NWRA Meetings EU Projects RDM Research European Regional Development Fund NWRA is the Managing Authority for The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) in our Region. ERDF is designed to strengthen economic, social and territorial cohesion in the European Union. It aims to do this by correcting imbalances between regions enabling investments in a smarter, greener, more connected and more social Europe that is closer to its citizens. Our current ERDF Programme is the Northern and Western Regional Programme 2021-2027, which is a €217m investment strategy for our region co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union. The Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy 2020-2032 (RSES) provides the roadmap for effective regional development – it delivered a combination of response, design and innovation; in how we do business, deliver homes, build communities and value land-use – creating healthy places and promoting sustainable communities.
