Become a Member Certified 0 Trained 0 Members 0 Certified 0 Trained 0 Members 0 INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF WHEELCHAIR PROFESSIONALS (ISWP) ISWP was born out of the need for greater coordination in the wheelchair sector in terms of collaboration, product knowledge, testing and training. ISWP was born out of the need for greater coordination in the wheelchair sector in terms of collaboration, product knowledge and testing and training. At ISWP, we focus on improving the quality of lives of wheelchair users, especially those in less-resourced countries, by focusing on 3 pillars: Advocating for governments to pay for appropriate wheelchairs and services. Training professionals on assessing and fitting clients with appropriate wheelchairs and training wheelchair users on how to use and maintain their wheelchairs. Improving the quality of wheelchairs by working with manufacturers, suppliers, and wheelchair technicians to raise the standards. We set ourselves an ambitious target of $250,000, and so far, we’ve raised a phenomenal $86,705! From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who donated and stood with us. Nearly 90% of donations have come in the form of grants from partner organisations, with the remaining support from individual donors who deeply believe in our mission and the importance of quality wheelchair provision. One message in particular, shared by Jasper Rogmans from Vicair, perfectly captured why this work matters and truly made our hearts smile:“We are proud to support the Wheelchair Impact Fund. As a wheelchair cushion manufacturer, we know that the product alone is not enough. It has to go hand in hand with skilled assessment and trained professionals. We believe that every wheelchair user has the right to optimal protection and maximal freedom in their everyday life. Thank you, ISWP, for your inspiring dedication to improving wheelchair provision worldwide and empowering professionals to create better, more dignified mobility for wheelchair users” There is still much work to be done, and we need all the support we can get. We can—and must—do better to ensure that every person who needs a wheelchair receives the right wheelchair, provided by someone who is appropriately trained.
