The Office is responsible for an annual budget of over $3 billion in appropriated funds for the 5,400+ employee Bureau of Reclamation. Read More → Employees Reclamation commissioner names Michael Pulskamp new senior advisor for hydropower and electricity reliability compliance officer Sept. 9, 2024 – Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Camille Calimlim Touton named Michael Pulskamp as the senior advisor for hydropower and electric reliability compliance officer. He will provide strategic vision and direction for Reclamation's hydropower operations. Pulskamp will also lead intergovernmental initiatives and regulatory compliance associated with hydropower generation and delivery. Read More → Investing in America Biden-Harris Administration Makes Up to $43.5 Million Available for Water Storage Projects in the West Through Investing in America Agenda Sept. 6, 2024 – The Department of the Interior today announced the availability of up to $43.5 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for small water storage projects that will create new sources of water for communities in the West. Surface water and groundwater storage are essential tools in stretching the limited water supplies worsened by a changing climate. These projects will increase water management flexibility, making water supply more reliable and communities more resilient. Read More → Research and Development Reclamation invests $2M in projects to support adoption of promising research Sept. 4, 2024 – The Bureau of Reclamation today announced a $2 million investment in nine new projects and continued funding for nine ongoing multi-year projects. The funding is part of Reclamation’s Facilitated Adoption Program that supports implementation of solutions to water management challenges. Projects selected include improving the accuracy of reservoir evaporation monitoring, improved safety and testing for hydropower turbine and rotor turning, 3D measurements of infrastructure and more. Read More → Colorado River Biden-Harris Administration announces $7 million from Investing in America agenda for water conservation projects in Texas and New Mexico Sept. 3, 2024 – The Bureau of Reclamation today announced that relining of the river outlet works at Glen Canyon Dam is underway. This project is being funded through a $8.9 million investment from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, as part of the President’s Investing in America agenda. The project will reline all four outlets and take about one year to complete, ensuring efficient and reliable water deliveries for future generations. Read More → Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project Contract awarded for completion of San Juan Lateral Water Treatment Plant in New Mexico Aug. 30, 2024 – The Bureau of Reclamation announced today a $267 million contract award to Jacobs Project Management for the design and build of the San Juan Lateral Water Treatment Plant in northwest New Mexico. The plant is the largest and most important feature of the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project.
