About Resources Events News Contact Open Menu Hospitality Sector Council Why We Exist The Hospitality Sector Council or HSC exists to ensure that our wonderful industry – be it pubs, restaurants, cafes, nightclubs or bars - flourishes into the future. Its formal remit is as a forum to facilitate cooperation between the hospitality sector and Government. Its overarching purpose is to co-create solutions for hospitality and to support the delivery of the Hospitality Strategy (published on 16th July 2021). Supporting Hospitality Hospitality lights up our high streets. A lynchpin in local ecosystems of shops, offices and homes, hospitality creates places where people want to live, work, shop and visit. Our sector is a vital part of the UK's national appeal, attracts domestic and international tourism and supports an array of cultural, sporting and other events. It is also a significant contributor to our national mood and, economically, to Treasury and local government tax receipts. It is wide-ranging, ambitious, entrepreneurial and frequently world-class. It can and will support our national aims of innovation, job creation, levelling up and creating a greener Britain. About Us What We Do The Hospitality Sector Council came into existence to support, guide and drive an agenda for the first national strategy for hospitality, which encompasses both post-COVID recovery and building the future resilience of the sector. The Council has organised a range of working groups comprised of leading industry stakeholders to focus on the most salient challenges and opportunities facing the industry. It identifies and oversees actions related to the 22 commitments in the Government’s first-ever Hospitality Strategy (see resources section or go on Gov.uk here) co-creating solutions using their expert knowledge and input from hospitality businesses large and small across the UK. About Us Co-Chair of HSC Karen Jones 'Everyone involved in the HSC is there because they believe in the importance of our industry and the social connectedness that lies at its heart. The HSC is there for everyone involved in hospitality and it will only have impact if what we do makes a difference to businesses large and small, new or well-established. We hope that the materials you find here will be of use to you in helping your businesses thrive and making hospitality across the UK ever stronger and better for its people, its customers and its suppliers.' Resources Focusing on the key resilience themes of the strategy, the Council has produced a range of guidance for businesses and recommendations for the Government, covering financial resilience, jobs and skills, sustainability, innovation, community, high streets and more.
