Our school serves over 367 students in Kindergarten through 8th grade, creating an intimate learning community where every child is known and valued. What makes Horizons Different? Kindergarten The first year of elementary school sets the foundation for the exciting learning experiences that await children at Horizons. Combined Classes: Grades 1/2 Our first and second-grade program supporTS Students through their first experience in a multi-age setting at horizons. Combined Classes: Grades 3/4 Enthusiasm, Reasoning, imagination, and logic are the hallmarks of learners aT THE 3/4 leveL. Combined Classes: Grades 5/6 our 5/6 program seeks to support students as they navigate their passage from the world of childhood to that of adolescence. Combined Classes: Grades 7/8 our 7/8 program fosters leadership and responsibility while preparing students for high school and beyond. District News Green Momentum: BVSD Exceeds climate goals and prepares for the next five years The district is wrapping up the final year of a five-year effort towards our latest set of sustainability goals detailed in the Sustainability Action Plan and Green New Deal resolution. BVSD has had a formal sustainability program with established goals since 2009. Staff will present an official update on progress to the Board of Education next week. This large footprint creates a tremendous opportunity to reduce resource consumption and emissions, and improve the health of building occupants and the planet. Some of BVSD’s recent efforts in this area include planning for decarbonization, collecting better data about energy use and expanding our solar power. This year’s event carries added significance, as it lands on Earth Day, highlighting the connection between how we travel and the health of our planet.
