It is vital to have a strong NIL program to have champion level athletes. Bayou traditionsSUPPORT LSU STUDENT ATHLETES With the 2021 NIL law change, student-athletes can now monetize off of their name, image, and likeness. To put it simply, prior to July 1, 2021, student-athletes could not even accept a free meal at a restaurant. Now, athletes can get paid for marketing and endorsement deals: think social media posts, appearances, and autograph signings. With eighty-six percent of college athletes living below the poverty line (*National College Players Association), NIL can truly impact the lives of our student-athletes.‍LSU has a tradition of having the greatest fanbase in college athletics.
