Register2. Learn ONLINE3. Learn in-personREGISTER2025 LICENSING COURSES FOR FIRST TIME REFEREES ARE NOW POSTED ‍Registration is performed online through U.S. Soccer’s Learning Center. There are fees to complete the required course work so be sure to have ready your credit or debit card available when registering.Registration is Easy CREATE A PROFILE AT U.S.SOCCER LEARNING CENTERAll candidates must be 13 years or older to create a profile in the U.S. Soccer Learning Center and register as a First-time Referee. Start your registration now by signing up at the U.S. Soccer Learning Center and click on the “SIGN UP” button. For help, click here.Register with STSRLEARN ONLINECertification to become a First-time Referee is done through a combination of online coursework and an in-person course. Your registration for the First-time Referee Course will include both an online course and an in-person course with a total fee of $65.First-time Referees Online CourseThis incredible, at your own pace, 4.5 hour e-learning experience unites a variety of videos and learning modules for an exciting educational experience and prepares candidates for their assigned tasks and responsibilities as a Referee. A new referee is required to complete both the First-time Referee Online Course AND the In-Person Course to be officially licensed with U.S. Soccer as a Referee. Register (set Host to South Texas) for the First-time Referee course.Register with STSRLEARN IN-PERSONThe In-Person portion of a student’s coursework includes practical exercises for aspiring candidates wishing to become U.S. Soccer Referees. The goal is to prepare the candidates by offering a SAFE, FUN, reality-based, holistic experience.First-time Referee Course In-Person SessionThe purpose of the in-person session is to provide an opportunity to reinforce concepts and knowledge covered in the online portion of the course via practical exercises. The focus must be on preparing the referee candidate to be ready for their first game.  The In-Person experience also includes online coursework to include:1.Safe Sport Training (if 18 years old or older – required by Federal Law)2. Introduction to Safe and Healthy Playing Environments3. Referee Certification Quiz The total fee for the Grassroots First-time Referee course experience is $65. NOTE – IF YOU ARE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER, IT IS REQUIRED THAT YOU COMPLETE THE U.S. SOCCER BACKGROUND CHECK. The cost of the background check is $23 and it is valid for 2 years.
