The Hope Scholarship program offers qualifying West Virginia’s K-12 students an opportunity to build an individual learning experience that works best for their child. The scholarship allows K-12 students to receive financial assistance that can be used for tuition, homeschool curriculum, and other qualifying expenses. Who can participate? West Virginia students eligible to be enrolled in kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year. West Virginia students enrolled full-time in a West Virginia public elementary or secondary school for the entire instructional term of the academic year preceding the academic year for which the student is applying to participate in the Hope Scholarship Program. West Virginia students enrolled full-time and attending a West Virginia public elementary or secondary school for at least 45 consecutive calendar days during the current instructional term at the time of application for the Hope Scholarship Program. The student must remain enrolled and attending the public-school program until a decision is reached on the Hope Scholarship application. When can I apply? 2023-24 School Year The Hope Scholarship Board is closed to new applications for the 2023-24 school year. The last day to apply was February 29, 2024. If you are interested in participating in the Hope Scholarship Program, please apply for the 2024-25 school year directly in the online portal. 2024-25 School Year The application window for renewal applicants for 2024-25 will be open from January 3, 2024 to June 17, 2024. For new applicants, the Hope Scholarship Board will accept applications year-round, but the timing of submission of the original application for the program will determine the amount of the Hope Scholarship received for the student’s initial year of participation in the program.
