LEARN MORE > The evolution of Knowledge Factory 2009 Birth of Knowledge Factory Comtrade hosts the first educational event under the name Knowledge Factory in Belgrade. 2010 Making learning fun Knowledge Factory receives significant media coverage, showcasing the products of world leading IT companies. The topics are carefully selected to engage younger participants, while the event also features knowledge quizzes and practical demonstrations. 2011 Knowledge has no boundaries Due to the interest of our partners from Montenegro, Knowledge Factory expands to the region, which marks the start of a unique cross-border partnership in Podgorica. 2012 First time ever: A multi-location event Knowledge Factory opens its doors in two locations– Podgorica and Zvornik. It doubles the number of participants and attracts regional guest lecturers covering a wide scope of emerging IT trends. 2013 How to pursue a career in IT? Knowledge Factory is first held in Andricgrad (Bosnia and Herzegovina). This is followed by the manifestation in Podgorica under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and the Ministry of Information Society and Telecommunications of Montenegro. The event focuses on careers in the IT industry and explores topics such as social media marketing and start-ups. 2014 Learning about robotics The largest IT event in the region traditionally takes place in Podgorica. The line-up includes guest participants from Belgrade’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Technical Sciences from Novi Sad. Students are introduced to topics such as robotics, with a particular emphasis on humanoid robots. 2015 Let there be light! The fifth consecutive Knowledge Factory is held in Podgorica, “shedding light” on the lightning phenomenon. Organized as part of the “Open Science Days”, the event provides participants with insights into the history of phonetics, principle of invisibility and optical illusions. 2016 160 years since Nikola Tesla’s birth In addition to its regular IT program, Knowledge Factory marked an important date - 160 years since the birth of Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest scientists of all time. Nikola Tesla is known as “the man who invented the 20th century. The anniversary of his birth was a chance to inspire the young generations and send out a message that talent, education, persistence and courage have a profound impact not only on science, but also on everyday life. 2017 Design your future New times and new technologies have brought a new approach to communications i.e. new standards and rules of communications. This was the bases of the 2017, Knowledge Factory, which covered the following topics: information consumption, safety and recommended behavior online, Internet of Things, digital communication and digital knowledge in art. Also, in 2017, a wide range of interactive activities where organized through seven different workshops, among which were: the little school of design and programing in Scratch; while the region’s most influential YouTubers educated participants on the topic of: How to start out on YouTube. 2018 Smart cities and innovative solutions Montenegro’s eighth annual Knowledge Factory featured more than just the usual IT content. The theme was “Smart Cities”, a concept that encompasses a vision of urban development that uses digital and communicational technologies (ICT) and the Internet of Things (IoT), to better meet people’s needs. The concept was presented to visitors via an attractive, interactive and fun expo, which charmed visitors with its extraordinary attractions: a Holo Box device that offered an interactive holographic experience, HoloLens glasses that enabled visitors to experience virtual reality, the exciting light effects of a Tesla globe, a Reaction Game simulation for enhancing reflexes, an Augmented Reality iPad booth, a Friend machine, a Kaleidoscope and a Sphero maze – a game designed to introduce visitors to the concept of Smart Cities.
