Did not expect this picturesque windmill on our way to Dingle. Such a nice spot to get out and walk around with great views. Janice O Well worth a visit Visited this attraction with my husband and 12 year old son on a rainy day while on holiday in Dingle. The staff were superb, very friendly and welcoming. They made every effort to make our visit enjoyable and healthy given current Covid19 restrictions. The model railway is impressive. The small museum upstairs is informative especially about emigration during the famine. James our guide inside the windmill, originally from Co. Tipperary, made our day and even gave us useful sightseeing tips for after our visit. Would highly recommend this attraction. Maura K Interesting Venue to visit. Today I took 4 young girls to Blennerville Windmill. I had 2 10 year olds and 2 8 year olds. They really enjoyed it. Donal, our Guide was exceptional. He gave a brilliant outline of the windmill’s history. He involved the girls in the milling of flour with the very old equipment. He explained about the sails of the windmill and when they would be turning. He went into so much detail about the history of the place which included the ship, The Jeannie Johnston and those who sailed on her. Brendaod 5 star hospitality On a Sunday drive we decided to pull into Blennerville Windmill on a total whim. I can only describe the welcome and hospitality from Donal as beyond 5 stars. We were too late for the “windmill tour”but he very kindly showed my husband and I and our 5 year old around the model railway exhibition and the Jeanie Johnson exhibit upstairs. Couldnt recommend the exhibit highly enough, will definitely be back to visit the windmill in full again. TheBianconi Fantastic Tour and Guide Donal Myself and my family had such an enjoyable tour of this windmill. We were aged from 2 to 60 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Donal was our tour guide and not only was he a fountain of knowledge he was so funny and great with my 5 year old daughter. The tour is very interactive which keeps it engaging. There are some lovely photo opportunities afterwards of the windmill aswell as a lovely miniature train tracks. Would highly recommend a visit. Angela Great hour This a famous landmark and it has been lovingly restored. You can take a guided tour and get a great history lesson from a great story-teller. It’s an hour of fun and experience that is worth every euro. Tim O Very interesting history This is a small museum with a working flour grinding windmill and guest can climb to the top if they feel up to five floors of steps. There is a section set aside for the emigration boats which is well a slow reflective read of the history and hardships of those who emigrated in the 1800’s and early 1900’s. There is also a model railway display, with history of local railways including the local mono-rail. Gerry K Very enjoyable tour Very enjoyable visit to Blennerville Windmill. The trip began with a short video about the history of the Windmill. We then moved on to a small museum focused on the coffin ships that departed Tralee during the famine. Then there was a room containing train models which are fantastically made. Finally we were brought to the windmill and got to climb the very steep stairs to the different floor levels. The tour guide demonstrated how flour was made from grain years ago before the windmill was functional with the use of grinding stones and the kids even got a try! Would recommend. Darren C Fun and Informative The tour of the Blennerville Windmill was fun and enjoyable. Des was awesome as he took us through the windmill level by level. He involved everyone on the tour in the experience. Prior to the tour, as we were walking through the exhibit, we got to talk with Des and he provided us with information on places to eat while we stayed in Tralee. Bernie O Wonderful experience Last Saturday our bus tour of 42 visited Blennerville Windmill in Tralee. We had a great experience here and Des who guided us through it all was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable and also had a great sense of humour. It was such an interesting trip and our time there absolutely flew. It is seriously well worth a visit. We shall definitely be recommending Blennerville.
