Find a Retreat Donate About our Retreats The mission of Casting for Recovery (CfR) is to enhance the lives of survivors and thrivers of breast cancer through wellness retreats that connect women to each other and nature using the therapeutic sport of fly fishing, and providing oncology medical and psychosocial support – all at no cost to the participants! Our Curriculum Focus & Values: Empowering Women Our innovative retreat model, hailed as “life changing,” empowers women and cultivates confidence through learning something new in the outdoors. Mental Health & Wellness Retreats feature the presence of medical oncology and psychosocial professionals, providing one-on-one and group support throughout the duration of the event. Conservation Set amidst breathtaking natural landscapes, our retreats prioritize environmental stewardship, teaching proper fish handling, catch & release principles, and sustainability. "I don't think anything will ever bring about the enormous healing I came home with from this weekend -- spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically, on all levels." "I've thought numerous times about standing in that stream with my river guide trying to cast my line to catch the elusive fish, and the sheer awesomeness of it all. And that gives me hope." "The fishing was great, but the friendships we made and the long talks among all of us is something to remember." Our Impact 60 Retreats each year serving over 800 women from all 50 states. 1800 Volunteers including alumnae, medical oncology and psychosocial professionals, and fly fishing guides. 70% of Participants have never attended a support group. Since 1996 For nearly 30 years, Casting for Recovery has provided healing fly fishing retreats serving more than 12,000 women. In 2024, Casting for Recovery will host 60 retreats nationwide. Recognizing that women with advanced stage disease have specific needs, CfR has continued to expand their Stage IV retreats to serve more women. These retreats are for women who have breast cancer that has spread beyond the breast and nearby lymph nodes to other parts of your body.
